The Vijay Hazare trophy will be seeing its 19th season of 2020-21. The tournament was announced in the early January of 2021 after the 20-21 Ranji Trophy got cancelled due to covid pandemic. The awaited tournament is geared up to take place from February 20 to 14th March 2021.
Secretary of BCCI Jay Shah said, “As you are aware, we have lost a lot of time and as a result, it has been challenging to plan the cricket calendar on account of the precautions that are important for the safe conduct of the games. But definitely, we are going to conduct the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
There will be 38 teams taking part in the tournament which have been divided into elite groups A, B, C, D, E and one plate group. The elite groups are all set to play at one location. The league matches for Groups A, B, C, D, E are going to be conducted in Surat, Indore, Bangalore, Jaipur and Kolkata respectively. While the plate’s group matches will be hosted across numerous venues in Tamil Nadu.
Sikkim Squad-Sikkim has hand-picked potential players for the tournament.
Similar to the arrangement in SMAT, all teams are required to gather in their respective cities, a week before the tournament. This will ensure the proper covid-19 test of all team players and staff on February 13,15 and 17. If all tests come negative the teams will be allowed to practice on February 18 and 19. If The league stage will last till March 1.Then the qualifying teams will head towards the venues for the knockout matches where they will again undergo covid-19 tests on March 2 and March 4.
